The basics. That’s where we need to start at. Before we can jump into the meat and potatoes of this nonsense. When I was a teenager, I was obsessed with Tumblr. It was a dark glorious time of unregulated pornography, Eating Disorder communities, and floppy haired scene kids. One of the most fun things to do were those silly tags were you would answer a bunch of questions about yourself. I have complied a bunch of these questions from random places and will be answering them all as earnestly as possible. Here we go, The 21 Questions No One Asked For:
1) Where are you from and are you proud of it?
New York City. Born and Raised.
I am completely and totally proud of it. There are not that many of us true born and bred New Yorkers left. Gentifrication has kicked so many people out and drove so many away, that New York really has lost some of it’s cultural touchpoints in a lot of places.
2. What’s your full name and are you proud of it?
The point of this blog is to express my unabashed feelings without judgment, fear of being fired, fought by someone’s husband, or murdered in my sleep. For 25th Year purposes, My name is T. or you can moniker it, Tea if you want.
3) What is your ethnicity/race?
No but seriously. I am black or black and Latinx. Those two things are not mutually in exclusive. Both my parents are from different Caribbean Islands. I grew up very steeped in Black-Caribbean culture which is huge here in NYC.
4) Are you single?
Have you read the first post?
5) What do you want in your next relationship?
Better sex and better food.
6) Who is your favorite writer in modern history?
I have many, but I will pick out two: Audre Lorde and Toni Morrison. Two black women writers who have had a really big impact on me. I’ve grown up a lot, five years ago, I would’ve said Bret Easton Elias who is a constant disappointment. You live and you learn.
7) Who is your current musical obsession?
8) What do you do for a living?
I work in corporate luxury fashion. Not as fancy as it sounds and not as dull as I pretend. Manly I have college debt and too many shoes. I’m serious. I own over 60 pairs of shoes.
9) Do you like your job?
Yes and no. It has it’s moments and it’s afforded me a lot in life, but I’m looking to get out.
10) What did you study in school?
I have one fashion business related degree and I’m working on my BA right now. That’s right ladies and gentleman, your girl is a 25 year old Junior in College. How did that happen? Stupidity and poverty.
11) Name a guilty pleasure.
(insert sentence about no pleasures being guilty). I like really supposedly unhealthy food. I’m also trying to get out of the “Good-food bad-food” mentality. But I just love food in general and I know I eat some over-sugared, over-salted incredible shit some times.
12) Who is your favorite designer?
I don’t want to give any big fashion Haus free promo. So, I will name my new favorite designer. Mr Telfar Clemmons. If you know what’s good for you, you will snag one of the Telfar Shopping bags before it’s too late. I have brown and Ox-blood ^_^
13) Favorite Youtuber? Internet persoanlity?
There’s a bunch of people I like, but I will name two Youtubers I think deserve more subs. The first is HauteleMode aka Luke Meagher who is a fashion critique and commentator. He’s bitchy, knowledgable, and THE BEST. He roasts and reviews fashion moments from red carpets to runway shows.
And second is The Voodoo Child aka Nadja. Nadja is a 21 year old black woman from Jacksonville, Florida who tells her crazy life stories. She has a really interesting fun personality. She reminds me of a younger me and even when I’m super lonely, I turn to her videos as friendship.
14) Do you do drugs?
Is ice cream a drug? I drink socially. I smoke a bit? I haven’t done anything else in a LONNNGGG time.
15) Last Book You Read?
The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. It was just okayyy.
16) Last thing you ate?
An very tasty and “healthy” Chole’s Strawberry Pops.
17) Last person you texted?
LOL it was my ex. And he texted back.
18) Favorite Place to Shop?
ASOS hands-down. The most inclusive, fashionable, trendy place on the web.
19). Do You Believe In Astrology? Does Your Sign Fit You?
Okay, so weirdly I actually believe in Astrology A LOT. I am an Aries and I feel like it fits me completely. All of my good and bad habits I can trace back to my Aries-ness. Sometimes I wish I could inhabit more of the positive traits when it works in my favor. Like I am naturally charismatic and passion, but super impulsive and will through myself strongly into one person or thing. Lol @ blog. I have to work on harnessing my Aries-ness for good.
20) What is your favorite TV Show?
There’s a couple of animes like Soul Eater and Darker Than Black that I would rank among the favorites. I’ve seen every SVU episode about three times as well. But I would have to say my favorite show of all time is probably The I.T. CROWD. I am rewatch episodes (and do) weekly, if not daily.
